The airline was founded by Dubai government in July 2008 and was officially established in March of the same year by the Government of Dubai as the low fare airline of the city. In the initial stage of the growth the company was largely supported by Emirates Group. At the Farnborough Air Show, on 14th July in 2008, Fly Dubai signed a deal with American aircraft company Boeing for 50 Boeing 737-800s worth US$3.74 billion; with an option to enlarge ore lengthen the range Boeing 737-900ER, as the airline demands.
The first of these commercial flights was
delivered on 17th May 2009 and It commenced business class services with the
facilities of Business class cabin well-arranged with 12 seats between window
and aisle, power outlets appropriate for plugs from more than 170 countries,
12-inch televisions, browse above 200 films, a business class room,
three-course dishes and Italian leather seats providing catering to business
travelers in the emirate.
Fly Dubai started scheduled flights since
the services to the nation like Beirut, Jordan, Lebanon and Amman. After the
service of just 3 months, fly Dubai had already carried 100,000 passengers. It
widened the circle of its service in a newer way. The company raised the number
of routes, making daily services to destinations across the North Africa,
Indian Subcontinent, GCC, Middle East, Asia and Central & Eastern Europe.
By the end of 2009, the company had already found another 7 routes and by July
2010, with even more routes on our map, they carried their one millionth passengers.
Fly Dubai, as a venture, was established on
19th March 2008, by the Government of Dubai. Dubai Government also runs
Emirates Airlines; however, the common ownership is the only link that connects
between the two airlines. Though in the beginning, the airline was supported by
its sister airline, it has been operated independently since. Also, there was
an initial step from the part of executives, but the major part of the hiring
was from the outside of Emirates Group.
